Pruning Japanese Maples with UC Marin Master Gardeners Donna Miller & Judy Simmons
Saturday, May 8, 2021
The Larkpsur Library is excited to host a workshop with the UC Marin Master Gardeners on pruning Japanese maples.
The time of year determines the kind of pruning for Japanese maples. In late spring, ideally May, the goal is to create space in the tree to allow more airflow and sunlight. This workshop will cover pruning techniques that promote the health of these trees as well as improved aesthetics. It will be a 1-hour talk with a half-hour demonstration of pruning cuts and techniques, with Q & A.
Donna Miller and Judy Simmons are Marin Master Gardener Pruning Guild journeyman pruners. They have had two years of extensive lecture and hands-on training from certified pruners. While continuing to gain pruning knowledge and skills from experts, they are now pruning mentors to new Pruning Guild members.
This event in partnership with the UC Marin Master Gardeners and the Commons Foundation. The Zoom was made possible by the Friends of the Larkspur Library.
