[ARCHIVED] UPDATE - Measure B Patch Paving

LowerViaCasitas

In accordance with the adopted Measure B Paving Plan, City Council earlier this month awarded a contract to Maggiora & Ghilotti to patch pave streets that are scheduled for pavement rehabilitation in later years in the Plan. Work started this week in the hills between Sir Frances Drake Boulevard and South Eliseo Drive. The work includes installing a thin lift of asphalt pavement in the worst areas to help the streets last until they are scheduled for complete repaving. The patch paving is scheduled throughout the City and should be completed before the end of the year depending on weather. The contractor will place ‘no parking’ signs 48 hours in advance where the work conflicts with parking areas.

Streets that are receiving patch paving at this time are still in line for full repaving within the next five years as part of the plan. The patch paving is an interim measure and not a replacement for the much needed full street repaving. The paving plan includes funding for both the interim patch paving and full paving. Please be assured the patch paving is not a replacement for full repaving, but rather an interim measure to mitigate poor pavement conditions until full repaving.
