Gardening with California Native Plants: Why, How, What and Where
Saturday, July 11, 2020
The Larkspur Library is proud to host a workshop with UC Marin Master Gardener Bob Mauceli to teach us how to garden with California native plants.
California is home to thousands of native plants. Marin County, with its Mediterranean climate, is a locale where many of the best of these can be grown. Because native plants have co-evolved with native birds, butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects, and mammals; planting them in our gardens will help maintain these populations. And using native plants can help gardeners build a beautiful landscape that uses less water and chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Marin Master Gardener Bob Mauceli has been a Master Gardener for over 16 years and is now co-chair of the Marin Master Gardener Native Plants Guild. Bob is also a member of the California Native Plant Society and has been a birder for almost 50 years.
This is event is made possible by the Friends of the Larkspur Library.
