Larkspur's building permit fees are valuation based therefore the cost of the project, including labor and material, must be filled in on the building permit application. When you submit your plans for review, an estimate is acceptable however, prior to issuance a more accurate valuation must be provided. The Building Official also may question valuations and assess a higher cost to your project. If you are doing the work yourself you still need to account for the cost of labor in order to provide an accurate valuation.
The "base building permit" fee is based on a formula and other fees are based on percentages, flat rates, etc. The below handouts explain how fees are calculated for Commercial, Residential and minor E/P/M projects.
This fee spreadsheet is to help calculate the current base permit fee and is to be used in conjunction with either of the forms above. Additional fees beyond those shown on this spreadsheet may apply.
If your project adds 500 or more square feet to an existing residence a School Facilities Fee will be assessed by the local school district office. This fee will need to be paid to the local school district office prior to the issuance of your Building Permit.
